Jim Cochrane shared this incredible photo, which according to the files I have, looks likely to be the oldest known School photo for any Blantyre pupils at any Blantyre school Jim told me, “My Great Grannie Janet Edmiston Baird 2nd from right Back Row. Date will be the 1890’s but what would the school be then […]
Another previously unseen school photo. Shared here kindly from Bill Beers who dropped it in to my home whilst on holiday from Canada. His wife Susan was in this class. The date is 1949 and it’s Miss Galloway’s class at High Blantyre Primary School on Hunthill Road. The children here would now be in their […]
Another school photo has surfaced. This time from 1984. I actually recognise a few people in this photo and think its High Blantyre Primary, the kids being a few years younger than myself. Feel free to tag anybody you know.

This amazingly clear photo has kindly been shared by Isabel Fleming of East Kilbride. Pictured in 1900, is High Blantyre Primary School at Hunthill Road. The photo has been scanned at an exceptional resolution, allowing so much detail to be picked out. I’m not expecting people to know who these boys were, but remarkably one […]

I forgot that school jotters used to be wrapped in brown paper, which depending on what teacher you had, was great […]
The great photos keep coming in! This lovely colour photo was taken in the mid 1950’s, at High Blantyre Primary School, Hunthill Road. Shared here by Gordon Cook, the picture demonstrates well the remodelled entrance at the front of the school (and proves the work was done to alter the front of the school before […]
