Bothwell Castle, a medieval stronghold from the late 13th century, is located above the River Clyde. Built by the Murray family, it was significant during Scotland’s Wars of Independence, exchanging control between Scots and English. Expanded by the Earls of Douglas, it now stands as a majestic ruin reflecting Scotland’s historical turmoil.

Shott House, 1990’s
A beautiful photo of Shott House, taken during the 1990’s. One of the oldest houses in High Blantyre, it recently went through a spell of being the offices for Crossbasket Estate, but was again recently put up for sale. The grounds have got much smaller in recent decades following the building of adjacent modern homes.
