Some further photos received in recent weeks from Geoff Sowerby and Marion Coulter Smith showing the final stages of St Joseph’s Primary Schoo, Glasgow Roadl being demolition back in January 2016. The demolition commenced on 7th January and took until the 29th January to clear the whole building to ground level.

These amazing photographs are Blantyre school photos with a difference. They taken back over 120 years ago in 1894, making them possibly the oldest known school photos from our town! This photo of High Blantyre Primary School is from 1955. Sent in by Jim Cochrane. Pictured with Mr Crawford are three sets of twins, something indeed special enough to prompt this photo. High Blantyre Primary School used to be on Hunthill Road and was formerly also called “The Annexe”.
