Crossbasket Dinner Evening

On Wednesday 8th June 2016, I was honoured to be invited along for dinner at the newly renovated Crossbasket Castle to provide some history on tap, to the dinner guests that evening.

That warm evening, I got to dine 7 courses with a full wine taster and enjoyed some excellent company. It was my chance also to see more of the Castle including some of the rooms that now have been named after previous owners.

As you can see from the photos, Crossbasket Castle is beautifully restored and I was amazed to see how beautiful the gardens now look in full summer bloom. When I left that evening all was quiet, except the trickle of water in the circular fountain in the front garden, the driveway and carpark nicely lit. Completely peaceful.

As it was my first experience of the restaurant there, I have to say, the food was absolutely delicious and at times I forgot I was in High Blantyre. I was fortunate to hear of some imminent plans for expansion, including expansions of the new restaurant, possible further acquisitions to the estate, the building of further amenities on the site including a rumoured spa resort! Indeed, the developments, including the recent opening of the hotel itself, means a planned revision to my Crossbasket book will now be on the cards for the end of the year. With the restaurant already booked out for many months in advance, Crossbasket Castle as a stunning venue for accommodation and eating out is well and truly putting Blantyre back on the map.
