“On Wednesday 28th February, the body of a man about 60 years, and apparently a tramp, was found lying at the Greenhall brickwork near High Blantyre. On the body were two pawn tickets bearing the name John Chalmers, for articles pledged in Wishaw and Motherwell. It has transpired that the man had told some people in the neighbourhood that he was a miner and came from Rutherglen. The body lay at the mortuary for identification.”

The Greenhall brickworks were located on Craigmuir Road. It is unknown if family came to identify him.
