1930s Livingstone Birthroom
This photo dates from the 1930’s. Pictured is David Livingstone’s birthroom at Shuttle Row, Low Blantyre. I was initially puzzled by this photo as none of the artefacts, the clock, the pictures etc are currently in that room, but David Livingstone Centre confirmed to me today, this IS what the birthroom looked like shortly after the museum opened in 1929.
The centre underwent some additional decoration afterwards and the birthroom was de-cluttered with many of the items moved to other rooms, hence why the picture today looks quite different.
