2014 Beech nuts at Stoneymeadow Road Junction, Blantyre by PVeverka

2014 My own photo taken mid September. Pictured are Beech Nuts at the side of the road, Stoneymeadow road, High Blantyre Junction with Dalton.

Beech is a fairly common hedgerow plant in the UK. Largely deciduous, the nuts appearing in Summer to Autumn are about 15mm long, forming 3 sides. The seeds are bitter to taste but known to be edible.
