The annual excursion of the employees of Auchinraith Colliery took place on Saturday 11th June 1892 to Edinburgh.
Newspaper reports told us a large turnout of workmen, their wives and friends, fully 400 being present. The weather was very disagreeable for the most part of the day. However, the various places of interest were visited, where all seemed to be well pleased. Blantyre Brass Band accompanied the excursion, and discoursed some excellent music in the course of the day, the party returning to Blantyre about nine o’clock, none the worse for the day’s outing.
This sounds like a lovely summer trip. A large crowd travelling by train accompanied by its own band!
