Elizabeth Scott Centre Mums

January 1977 next. Blantyre’s young mums turned on the style in a fashion show in the town’s Elizabeth Scott Community Centre on the last Friday of that month.

The show was organised by the centre’s pre-school playgroup committee and members took a hand in the modelling and “back-stage” work presenting the show to raise cash for the group.

The clothes were provided by Glasgow fashion retail firm Poundwise and the playgroup came in to for commission on clothes sold at the show. In all £36 was raised.
