Due to prior commitments elsewhere, I’m unusually unable to attend the Remembrance Service in Blantyre this year, so ahead of the service at 3pm, wreaths were placed at both the Auchentibber and High Blantyre War Memorials.
These wreaths are on behalf of the whole community, not just in Blantyre this year, but you’ll see I’ve placed some small International flags throughout the wreaths to represent people who follow this page in the International community, representing sentiment from ex pats. Wreaths were funded via Blantyre Telegraph.
It’s been once again touching this week researching and posting more of the lives of Blantyre soldiers who were killed in WW1 and WW2. If you would like to know more about that, please see all the fantastic poster cards placed at the Memorial locations, by my history colleague, Alex Rochead.
Their sacrifice won’t be forgotten. We shall remember them.
