With thanks to Brian Hamilton for sharing this photo of Elmwood School. Although just outwith Blantyre, some girls at this school came from Blantyre. Like for example, Brian’s mother Aileen Hamilton (Gilmour) who is pictured, the girl without a tie.
Her best friend Anne Gillies (Docherty) from Cambuslang is on the back row second from the left. Thought this may be of interest to readers who may recognise others? Not sure exactly when it was taken but Aileen was born in 1945 so the guess is this is likely the late 1950’s.

Hi Paul. Isn’t Elmwood the Convent School in Bothwell that my mom Helen Dolan attended, when she used to cross the “rickerty old bridge” to get there from Waterloo Row?
My mom Helen Dolan was born in Blantyre in 1914, so she would have attended Elmwood Convent School in the 1920’s until her move to New York City in 1930 at the age of 15.
