A couple of photos kindly shared here by Rob Gordon. This is Stonefield Public Park (now McAnulty Park) I believe during the. 1960s or 70s. The photo of the park was taken from the bedroom window of the Gordon family who at the time lived at Number 56 Station Road. This view looks across the park towards John Street at a time before the Sports Centre.

The other photo is taken from the path in the park looking back up at the back of their Station Road house, that scene still fairly familiar. Who remembers the park like this? Today, it’s very much greener in summer thanks to the matured trees. Nowadays too, there’s an orchard in the park but of course no ponds or pitch n putt.
