Stonefield Public Park

This nostalgic photo is again of Stonefield Public Park, taken from the vantage point of the houses at Station Road. It was captured by the late Robert Craig, (who was the first SNP Councillor in Blantyre) and shared here in good resolution, scanned by Robert Gordon.

The prominent feature here is the “Old Mans Rest”, the structure on the left. In the centre of the photo is the park keepers huts, tool stores and the yard to store the boats for the boating pond. The houses in the background is Glasgow Road.

Gordon can hopefully confirm the year, but I’m guessing this is the 1970s.
