Let’s get back to some new photos and familiar places.
Today’s photo is a rare postcard, a scene I’d not seen before until recently, thanks to Gordon Cook sharing here. It’s General Bridge, High Blantyre and of course, Stoneymeadow Road. Taken over 100 years ago, children stand on either side at the parapets. One child on the right is sitting on the parapet, a dangerous thing to do, given the sheer drop on the Crossbasket side below.
The scene hasn’t changed much these days, still very green though the roadway is a lot firmer and slightly higher!
