Two photos next from the same School play. The advanced pupils of the Calder Street School put on a concert inviting parents to come along and be entertained, all in aid of raising funds for the School.
The play was held in the Co-operative Hall at Herbertson Street, Blantyre and more is known about these two photos, although none of the pupils are named. The photo with the girls in white was a performance of “Oaken Leaves”, a dance number. The other photo with the girls reading was a Village Blacksmith Church Scene, one of dramatic song!
The play was held in December 1929, some 93 years ago. These pupils were likely born between 1917 – 1919. One thing is for certain. I bet there were many proud parents and relatives in the audience!
