Another wonderful painting from 1810 by Hugh William Williams. Just off Priory Playing fields. The scene well before the time of coal mining. In the 18th Century, mid 1700’s this area of Blantyre was known as “Letrigland” a name now forgotten. This looks like the track down to that forgotten farm, which later became the Priory Colliery Coal bing.
