1910s Auchentibber Gardens

1910s Auchentibber Gardens

This photo from the 1910’s shows the former Auchentibber Gardens, in particular, a raised terrace, once behind the old Inn. Today, this would be behind the War Memorial. As seen in this photo from my collection, over 100 years ago, wooden steps led up to an elevated position , protected by stone walls.

An archway below had small pieces of bark nailed to it, to give the impression of a ‘living arch”.  This was beside the toilets and equipment store, if you look closely you’ll see those doors.

Such a shame this is all gone, suffering a rapid neglect and decline following the late 1930s.
