This photo took a little working out and orientation. Taken in 1981, I think the vantage point is from Auchinraith Road. I see the former Co-op building and “Wheels” on the far left at Herbertson Street, which means Glasgow Road runs along the middle of the photo, behind the mound of rubble. Out the photo to the right is Forrest Street as we can just about see the Telephone exchange. The houses are John Street.

Of course in 1981, this whole area was being redeveloped but the open expanses of wasteland attracted travellers for much of the year, their caravans pictured. More Travellers site photos coming soon.
