Rock on Fundraiser, 1980

Blantyre Speedway Supporters Club launched a sweet fundraiser in August 1980 asking for Blantyre families to bring back branded rock from wherever they were on summer holidays.

The plan was to hand it all over to the children of Wooddean Home on Farm Road. At the time Blantyre Speedway was home to the Glasgow Tigers and TIgers rider Roy Palmer was there at hand to hand over all the sweets, after being recently injured in the sport. Left to right are Roy, Hugh Wilkie, Joan Meghan, Alan Morrison and Iain McLean who made the presentation on behalf of the Supporters club.

All the children loved their sweet treat!
