Let’s go to Summer 1980 here with the crowning of the Gala Queen in Blantyre. Alison Pohler is pictured here with her predecessor, former Gala Queen Fiona Robertson.

The ceremony was originally supposed to take place outdoors, but bad weather forced much of the event indoors. This crowning was just the start of a busy Gala WEEK for this young royal.

Her entourage comprised of Ann Marie Allan, Lynn Kane, Lynn Crosswaithe and Catherine McDade.
