1980 BVG on the road

At the end of June 1980, Blantyre Volunteer Group got “on the road” when they received a new vehicle!

A van which was used from everything from “meals on wheels” to transport for handicapped children was handed over to the group on Gala Day, by Blantyre Round Table.

The Tablers raised £850 and table chairman is seen here holding a further cheque for £200. Accepting the cheque is Meals on Wheels organisers Winifred Elliott and William Devine with (left to right), Provost Swinburne and Margaret Campbell and Robin Douglas of the Volunteer Group.
