JJ Young, one of the readers of this page watched the cine films I put up in Summer and enjoyed particularly the ones with children playing at the falls. It brought back memories and coincided with a more recent family event. For, JJ’s own sons recently recreated that scene by jumping into the Milheugh Falls and showing , they CAN still be used in this day and age for supervised fun!

JJ told me, “I have included a film of two of my 6 sons swimming in the falls August 2017 …. You may wish to use this as a follow up to your article? Sons swimming are Kane Young & Troy Young.”

Blantyre Project In a recent presentation, I found myself speaking that i did this many times as a child, but not on the spot and thinking about it ow, it was probably only 2 or 3 times in warm summers. Each time with no parents knowing anything about it. I’m smiling as I write this, for I posted online in 2014, before the independence vote, that had Scotland voted a certain way, i’d jump in there again that year, naked! Thankfully for me, I was spared that promise.
Gord Fotheringham my pal and i used to go there in the summer….naked was the way to go…jimmy rooney was my pal…and it was over 65 years ago….will never forget those lazy summer dayz…

Linda Pemberton We used to go here all the time walking the dog when I was younger. I mind the day my dad threw the dog in. I thought he was going to drown but he swam to the edge got out and jumped back in haha.

Margaret Muir I never went in over ankle deep .Mainly because I can’t swim! lol
