As November approached, thoughts turn more towards an imminent winter. I recently found this photo of Croftfoot, High Blantyre (my home) taken in Winter 2017.
Although it may look nice, it was a reminder of how unprepared I am and of all the things I’d promised to attend to in Summer in advance of cold winter. Like further loft insulation. Didn’t happen. Like stocking up on coal and wood for the fire in a proper store. Didn’t happen. Like pointing up holes in the stonework render. Didn’t happen. Like painting my flaky wooden windows to protect against damp. Didn’t happen. I probably should have put my laptop away on summer evenings, but sitting outside in the warm sunshine was much more fun than DIY!
Now, I suddenly feel like I have my work “cut out”.
