We go back now 7 or 8 decades to an incredible picture taken at David Livingstone Centre grounds. It’s busy as you’ll see and the play-park as always is especially popular However, just look at the chute!
Grown men are climbing on the chute and sliding down, some dressed in suits , others in flat caps or even the man at the top, carrying his briefcase down with him! The children queue up patiently behind them!
The location is where the carpark is today.

Elaine Speirs If that is the biggest of the chutes I remember it – it was very scary! DLC used to have an amazing play park until health & safety got a hold of it. The witches hats, the rocking horsed with 20 kids on them – happy days. Thats why we were so skinny then. We had to to squeeze through the hole in the fence. 50 weans in the park and only 5 tickets sold!
