Mr Tom Blair was certainly a “weel kent” face at Blantyre’s Glen Travel during the 1970’s.
He is pictured here with Mr Mick McDonagh of Aer Lingus. The pair were on their way to New York for a working weekend holiday. Mr Blair was there in the capacity to judge how Aer Lingus treated passengers. (I’m sure he was well looked after this trip!)
Mr Blair stopped off at Shannon Airport and saw the duty free shops, and then upon his arrival in New York saw a tour courtesy of Grey Line Bus Tours. The purpose was of course to be able to relay to customers just exactly what its like to fly and stay a weekend in New York.
