Jeanette Allardyce Ward emailed me at the end of 2015 asking if I could find out more about her ancestors. She sent me this photo of a gravestone to give me a start.
Thomas Allardyce was born on September 21, 1861, in Stevenston, Ayrshire. He married Elizabeth Donaldson (an Irish Immigrant to Scotland) on October 12, 1883, in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire. They had nine children in 20 years. He died on August 23, 1929, at the age of 67.
Elizabeth Donaldson was born in 1863. She died on March 18, 1932, at the age of 69. One of their children was William. When William Allardyce was born in 1884 in Kilwinning, Ayrshire, his father, Thomas, was 23 and his mother, Elizabeth, was 21. He married Sarah (Sadie) Kelly on November 10, 1911, in Blantyre, Lanarkshire and moved there. They had at least one child during their marriage. He died on February 23, 1961, at the age of 77.
Sarah (Sadie) Kelly was born about 1890 in Ireland. She died on August 8, 1968, in East Kilbride, Lanarkshire, at the age of 78, and was buried in Blantyre, Lanarkshire.
I suspect William and Sadie had more than one child, but I think the most important one for Jeanette would have been Thomas. Thomas Allardyce was born on May 7, 1915, in Glassford, Lanarkshire, the child of William and Sarah (Sadie). He died on March 31, 1993, in Holmswood Avenue, Blantyre at the age of 77, and was buried in Blantyre, Lanarkshire.
I have mapped out this tree for anybody else who is interested.
Jeanette told me later, “William and Sadie had 3 children. William , Robert and Thomas, but Thomas is my grandfather. I remember going to Kilwinning when I was little, still had relatives there. Seems to be a lot of Thomas an Elizabeth in the tree”
