Auchentibber Farm Fire

On 8th December 2015, Auchentibber Farm caught fire. The fire brigade attended at 9.30am in the morning, quickly bringing the blaze under control, but not before the roof and insides were destroyed.

Blantyre man Alex Rochead, whilst out walking shared these photos he took on the day after (9th December 2015) showing just how much of the building was destroyed. The house had been empty for some time and nobody was living there, in the hands of liquidators at the time of the fire.

The farmhouse was old and had an important role in the history (and possibly naming) of Auchentibber. It is unknown how the fire started, that wet and windy morning.

On social media:

Christine Wallace What a shame. Lovely old house.

Grant Forrest Any idea if it has new owners now Paul?

The Blantyre Project sorry, haven’t heard.

Carol Crombie Such a shame

Marian Maguire This seems to happen too often to houses in mysterious circumstances, makes you wonder, if deliberate the perpetrators should be jailed if caught, destroying blantyres history.
