Lomond View Flats, High Blantyre

2012 Lomond View Flats

2012 Lomond View Flats

A three storey block of modern flats located on the North side of Main Street, near its junction with Schoolhouse Lane. Built on the site of former Matt Boyle’s home, the flats are adjacent to Croftfoot and set slightly back off the Main Street itself. Demolition of the existing detached house happened during the last week in May, 2008.

Construction of the new flats commenced in Autumn 2008, and continued right through Winter 2008 and into Spring 2009. The 12 homes have 2 bedrooms and are constructed to a high standard. Lomond View also benefits from private parking for two cars per apartment, landscaped gardens, gas central heating, double glazing and security entrances.

The name was chosen due to the upper floor view over Blantyre across to the Campsies and on to Loch Lomond.

The flats were to open in June 2009 for around £140k, but despite the main fabric of the building being completed, the final construction and completion of the work was affected in Autumn 2009, when the recession hit, forcing work to be suspended for almost 2 years. When work recommenced, in 2011 the flats had a new price point at £125k. The first residents moved in during 2011.
