How busy the David Livingstone Centre seemed to be in photos of the 1930s. Like this photo showing the playing fields busy with picnics and children playing. Things have changed for me looking at this photo this year. Last year, i would think, “wouldn’t it be great if crowds like that came back to the centre?”. This year, after our successful Gala day on 27th June, I now think, “wow! We had FAR more people at our gala this year than in this picture”. It proves one thing. The David Livingstone Centre is a massive asset for Blantyre if it can be utilised correctly for all. The museum has recently closed for a 2 year renovation, but the good news is, that Blantyre Community Committee will still be able to host the next gala day in the grounds!
