I was at the High Blantyre Old Parish Gala day yesterday, braving the elements. I like that annual event. Its close to home and I always know many people. Although attendance was low due to the rain, all book sales of the day were intended for charity and £100 was raised for the Haven, as well as a donation made to the church. As always at these events, I met loads of wonderful people, and chatted extensively about the history of the area.
Thanks also to Member of Parliament, Margaret Ferrier who stopped by for a chat and took an interest in Blantyre Project. Not the best picture of me, but I was pleased to see she also took the time to post on social media about our conversation.
Gala season in Blantyre is now in full swing, and I look forward to the large event at David Livingstone Centre on 27th June.
