Thank you to Robert Stewart how shared these 2 photos of Crossbasket with us. The Castle, although very much dilapidated at the time of these photos in 2008, was still very impressive to look at. The photos were taken exactly 7 years ago today on 25th May 2008 although it looks like it was a slightly brighter day then.
Robert and I share something in common. He told me, “My all time favourite building is Crossbasket“. I couldn’t agree more. There is something about this castle, a mystical, romantic feeling, that is all the more present now i have investigated, written and published the definitive account of its history. So many amazing facts and discoveries about it. So many interesting, sad and happy side stories.
Knowing now that the Castle is renovated and all that unsightly grey render is now removed back to beautiful stonework, I would say the gardens are a highlight of these older photos. The colours are beautiful, vivid and beautify the whole area tremendously. I look forward to a time in the near future when Crossbasket Gardens are restored as a final part of the current renovation.
