These three photos are courtesy of Jean Robertson, each taken in 1957 and feature Priestfield Terrace, High Blantyre, on what is now Hillhouse Road.
Built as miners homes for Dixon’s pits, the cottages were arranged in 4 blocks of 4 semi detached. Brick and slate built, they were immediately beside the collieries in High Blantyre, with the railway and Dixons Pit 2 behind them and the railway bridge and Dixons Pit 1 in front (now where Priestfield Cemetery is). Today, the cottages would have been to the right of where the entrance to Technology Avenue is at Hamilton Technology Park.
