This photo dates from 1905. Pictured is Broompark Road from Main Street.
The doorway on the left would now be where the entrance to Swinfen Dentists is, with Blakely’s pub out the picture to the left. The tenement in the middle of the picture is now knocked down as is the wall on the right and trees above. However, the buildings are still there in the background.
Children stand in the street, seemingly oblivious to the photo being taken. One young child carries a wee baby. Today, the scene is very different. Much more built up, a lot less rural.
