I was contacted recently by Robert Brownlie who has been doing some research on the Caledonian Railway history. Robert’s words are printed below,Hi Paul, ref pic of High Blantyre station looking towards Sydes Brae (pictured), one set of the plans I sent you are of this bridge. It was known as Bridge 23, locally known as the ‘ANARCHY BRIDGE’ . This was because the south facing side of the bridge had a giant white letter in each square section of the bridge, spelling out the word ‘Anarchy’ in white gloss paint lol That was still there until they took the bridge away ! The bridge was there for several years after the expressway was built, it remained in place until they built the new houses at Craigmuir road. It was about 30ft or 40ft north of the expressway fence ! I played there daily as a boy, just wish I was more into photography at the time lol
