This photo was provided by Elizabeth Cardoo (nee Anderson). Pictured in the 1950’s the scene is a Blantyre Gala Day, complete with bunting and excited smiles! Elizabeth told the Blantyre Project,
“The photo is from Viewfield Terrace, down the Village, Blantyre”.
Her mum is at Centre right with the crown. Around her are many Blantyre children including those from the Anderson family, Fotheringham, Payne and Devine families. The date is unknown but probable as the early 1950s. Who can remember Blantyre gala days? The bunting, the street parties, the floats and streamers?
