Tonight we’re celebrating the life of Robert Burns — affectionately known as Rabbie Burns. Born in Alloway in 1759, Burns rose from humble beginnings to become Scotland’s national poet, giving voice to ordinary people through poetry and song.
His work captured love, hardship, humour and equality, leaving a legacy that still echoes today in verses like Auld Lang Syne and Tam o’ Shanter. Writing in Scots as well as English, Burns helped shape Scotland’s cultural identity and took its words to the world.
So whether you’re enjoying haggis, in Scotland or raising a dram overseas….. or simply sharing a favourite line of poetry, tonight is about tradition, pride and remembering a man whose words never faded. Something to make Scots proud!
