During the last week of February 1893, Mr Paul of Motherwell brought along a marvellous, large model of the Forth Railway Bridge to Blantyre. Setting it up inside the Burleigh Hall, just off Glasgow Road, members of the public were invited along to see the mini spectacle.
The Forth Rail Bridge had only opened just over a decade earlier, so for many people it was difficult to imagine or go and see the real bridge.
