From 70 years ago this April, a group of Blantyre lads have a kick about at Stonefield Public Park.
Jackets are discarded beside the goals in the playing fields. In the foreground is John Street, putting this scene into context, the small path leading to the left still there today. David Dale House would be on the left of this picture now.
The trees are still there today, dating back to when the park was first laid out a couple of decades earlier. The playing fields not as well kept as they are today. No lines, or drainage, no set out pitch, and the goalmouth looks well used and muddy!
