How about this for a great photo. Taken from above the Stonefield Public park in 1955, it looks across Station Road over the Prefabs, where today the entrance to Park Lane would be.
Just a decade after the end of WW2, you can see the little hut on the left hand side, near the prefab estate entrance……a shop which was owned by Mary Powers. To the lower left the entrance to the public park, off of Station Road.


I recall going to the prefabs once with a friend from school, that would have been the 1950s. I thought how different they looked from the usual housing I was used to seeing.
Am guessing the Clyde Street & Crescent in Blantyre have since disappeared post prefabs – they do not show on current maps 🥴
Was unaware of this history here 😮 and we live nearby now
