This evening, Friday 17th January, I had the pleasure of meeting up with Matt Boyle at the Barnhill Tavern.
Meeting for the first time, we arranged a meet up in Blantyre to talk about Matt’s well known family member, also named Matt Boyle, the publican who once owned the Auchinraith Vaults in High Blantyre.
There are several generations of ‘Matt Boyle’ in this family, though none live anymore in Blantyre. Matt and I spent a good hour talking about his family, father and grandfather including some interesting stories I hadn’t heard before. This wonderful photo is the Boyle family and knowing Matt Boyle, (the publican) is the wee boy in the middle, I’d say this photo was maybe around 1906 or so.

My grandad was Matt Boyle his daughter Angela then had me.
