What a fantastic photo this is. The photographer was David Ritchie and the couple’s names are known. This is Robert and Elizabeth Fleming (nee Louden). Taken sometime between 1895 and 1910, they are the photographer’s father and mother in law.
Elizabeth Loudon married Robert Fleming and lived at 24 Southend, Strathaven. Both her daughter Mary Ann and her son in law David Ritchie moved to Blantyre when they got married living for a time at School Lane before moving to Broompark Avenue.
The photo somewhere between 115 and 130 years old, is in excellent resolution, enough to zoom in on their faces and may have been taken locally.
