Blantyre School kids visiting David Livingstone Centre in May 1977, were delighted to meet a real life African President!

Dr Hastings Banda, the President of Malawi dropped into the Memorial centre and was instantly a hit with local children. He joked and talked with them, going around the exhibits in the museum , telling them what life was like back in Africa.

Dr Banda’s government had donated £15,000 towards the cost of the new Africa Pavilions and was pleased to see so many visitors to the new centre. Do you know any off the children? They would now all be in the late 50s.
