Remembering Victor Bell

Today, as we continue to explore those local servicemen and women who died in WW2, we remember Pilot Flight Sergeant, Victor L Bell.

Victor L Bell was born in Holytown in 1921 but when he married Delia Joyce in Blantyre in 1943, he was a Blantyre man. The couple lived at Parkville Drive, Springwell, Blantyre. Delia was in the Fist Aircraftswoman Auxiliary Service.

Being just 23 years old, Victor was called for service and was stationed at RAF Station Aerodrome in Dumfries when sadly on 12th January 1945, towards the final months of the war, he was killed in an aircraft accident.

His grave stone in Blantyre lists various family members.

With thanks to Alex Rochead who shared much of this information just before the covid pandemic.
