1962 Old Parish Church Entrance

It’s a scene which is little changed today. The entrance to Blantyre Old Parish Church at High Blantyre will be familiar to many people. The gate pillars and adornments, and indeed the gates themselves still look like this today, despite this photo being taken 60 years ago in 1962. The two lines of slabs which form the straight path and gravel chips on either is something else which just hasn’t changed.

Today, at the entrance to the church, near the doorway, there’s now a mobility ramp and metal handrails to help those who may struggle or not manage steps. That aside, i’m struggling to find anything thats different. This is indeed something unusually for Blantyre which has stayed the same for over the last half Century.
