1960’s High Blantyre School

Another new photo for you. Staying with High Blantyre School on Hunthill Road with this post. This is the 1960s and pictured is the Boys Football Team. I recognise Headmaster Davie Crawford in the middle of the photo and to the left, the football coach, I had heard was Craig Brown (who would later become Scotland’s National Manager)

The boys don’t look particularly happy, perhaps due to the time taken for this photo to be captured. For instance you can see the precision in the patterns of kits, dark, light, dark, light. Some careful placement. The houses of Park Crescent in the background. I’ve zoomed in on the faces to see if you recognise anybody. Today, these lads may be around 65 years old.

With thanks to George Hay.
