More previously unseen photos, courtesy of George Hay. This one dates from the 1960’s and is taken from a position above what is now Hillhouse Road. It looks over towards what was then a relatively new housing estate at Waverley Terrace and Kirkton Avenue. The Photo was taken at the top of the former Dixon’s bing overlooking High Blantyre.
The empty expansive fields to the left would in the following decade become the Jerusalem houses. In the foreground, the wasteland, left over from where fields met the bings and mining activity, would become the EK Expressway.
