These couple of views of High Blantyre were photographed in the 1960’s. They look down upon the relatively new Kirkton housing estate and the former Bing of Dixon’s Collieries, which was by this time not in use. This was the changing face of Blantyre as the visible legacy of its mining decades was finally coming to an end. The future for this site, was to be a brand new Expressway.
