1940’s Lido at Bothwell Bridge

A lovely scene, now gone. This is the 1940’s and the former Lido Park, once neatly laid out near Bothwell Bridge. This well tended park with its nice flower beds and beautiful views is now destroyed, replaced by the roaring noise of the East Kilbride Expressway.

The Lido initially created in the 1930s lasted no more than 50 years but was a popular destination with a little sandy beach below the riverbank walls. Do YOU remember the Lido?
