On Friday 29th November 1929, the employees of the Blantyre Engineering Company Ltd, held their annual dance in the Masonic Hall on Glasgow Road. Employees were permitted to bring along a partner and judging by the happy faces and attendance, it looks like it was a great night!
Styles were changing. The straight, short bobbed hair of women in the 1920’s giving was to the wavy, longer styles and fashions of the approaching 1930s.
There’s a surprising amount of younger people in this 93 year old photo. I wonder how just many of our parents, grandparents and older relatives are pictured!
