Continuing a look at Blantyre from the Air in 2021, courtesy of photos by Alex Rochead.
As a special birthday treat, Alex went up on a microlight flight on 30th June. It’s something he enjoys a lot and as with his 60th birthday, he followed the Calder down through Blantyre to where it flowed into the Clyde. Then along to Hamilton and back to Blantyre. He has been invited back for his 80th!
As his great photos show, this part of Blantyre is still very green and the buildings around, even the new ones across the water in Bothwell have been sympathetically constructed in white render and grey slates, just as Shuttle Row itself has been renovated. Work continues to complete the museum and grounds ahead of opening on 28th July 2021.
